The new generation PowerPill FE-3 is an extraordinary product bringing a whole range of attributes which make it highly marketable in all countries. The high tech PowerPill FE-3 has been demonstrated in both laboratory and road studies to:
· Increase octane
· Prevent valve recession from starting
· Stop valve recession which has already begun
· Reduce combustion chamber deposits
· Reduces harmful emissions
· Improve fuel efficiency
Engine Power
Every petrol engine is designed and built to run on petrol with a specific octane. Basically, the engine has an octane appetite. The problem is that the engine octane appetite increases overtime. This is caused by the accumulation of internal deposits. Carbon is the primary culprit in this appetite increase, as well as gum, varnish and dirt. When the engine has as appetite for petrol with a higher octane that is being used, the results are unpleasantly obvious - poor derivability, knock and ping, and excessive emissions.
Previously, there were costly choices of moving to petrol with a higher octane, having the engine decarbonised and serviced in a workshop, or in some cases, adding a questionable octane booster. But none of these options offers a totally satisfactory answer as they are either very expensive initially, or when used on an every fill-up basis.
The new, high tech PowerPill FE-3 does offer a total answer.
The octane appetite increases all petrol engines experience needs the one-two punch answer of PowerPill FE-3. Firstly, as it dissolves, PowerPill safely increases the fuel octane. Depending on the grade of petrol, PowerPill FE-3 increases octane level up 1 to 4 points. Second, PowerPill FE-3 works rapidly to reduce the engine's octane appetite between 2 and 8 points. So there is a dual impact of increased octane in the fuel and a reduced octane appetite from the engine. This is powerful medicine for your vehicle and increases engine power.
One of the opportunities that PowerPill FE-3's octane boosting capability presents is that owners wishing to improve engine performance through a higher octane rated fuel, can now achieve this using PowerPill FE-3. The base cost of the low octane fuel plus the cost of one PowerPill FE-3 per tank-fill (approximately 60 litres), is considerably less than the cost of filling up with the high octane fuel. Immediate savings are obvious as the PowerPill FE-3 virtually pays for its cost instantly and all the other benefits become a bonus. PowerPill FE-3 dissolves safely and completely in fuel and does not melt in storage in high temperatures.
Octane
PowerPill FE-3 is an octane boosting gasoline conditioner that shows the same metal effectiveness as lead at low concentrations. A 15-PPM concentration is recommended for continuous use as an environmentally beneficial and functionally equivalent substitute for TEL. PowerPill FE-3 will provide on average, a 0. 5 RON + M/2 octane increase at 15 PPM in regular gasoline.
Combustion chamber Deposits
The octane mix blend of lead and bromine co-conditioner was specifically designed to maintain minimum levels of lead deposit in combustion chambers. The lead coating was very effective in eliminating carbon deposits in the combustion chambers and exhaust valve areas. Withdrawal of lead leads to build up of carbon deposits in combustion chambers. The two recently developed valve protection conditioners studied by USDA/EPA were found to "...result in engine deposits with unknown implications." The PowerPill FE-3 technology features the ability to reduce engine deposits. Dynamometer testing of the identical engine block with unleaded fuel with or without 15 PPM PowerPill FE-3 for the equivalent of 50,000 miles (800 hours total) - 25,000 miles unleaded use, measure, clean deposits, repeat 25,000 miles with PowerPill FE-3 a 29% reduction in piston deposit thickness with PowerPill FE-3 treatment and a reduction in the resulting octane requirement increase. Similarly, two 1.8 litre engines were operated on the highway for 50,000 miles each. After 50,000 miles, the unleaded fuel engine without PowerPill FE-3 showed 2.4 times thicker deposit than the PowerPill FE-3 treated fuel engine and, again, the PowerPill FE-3 fuelled engine showed significantly lower octane requirement increase.
The progressive withdrawal of leaded fuels, in favour of unleaded fuels, in most world markets has meant that vehicles with petrol engines experience a build up of carbon deposits in combustion chambers with a consequent negative affect on engine performance.
Exhaust Emissions
Tests conducted earlier this year in Europe by the Swedish laboratory Rototest on 84 different models showed that even for some new cars as well as older models, exhaust emissions continue to be a problem. The research included testing for hydrocarbons (including carcinogens such as benzene and smog-producing volatile organic compounds), poisonous carbon monoxide and oxides of nitrogen which worsen bronchitis and asthma whilst contributing to acid rain and smog.
PowerPill FE-3 significantly reduces exhaust emissions and the consequent damage to the environment. Extensive tests have been conducted with average results of 30 engine tests using US Highway Cycle Protocol conducted by Technischer Uberwachungsverein (TUV) in Germany. These results clearly demonstrate the value of PowerPill FE-3 in reducing dangerous exhaust emissions.
· Carbon monoxide reduction 78%
· Hydrocarbon reduction 24%
· Smoke pollutants 73%
PowerPill FE-3 can be described as a truly environmentally friendly fuel conditioner.
A recent filing for a waiver under Section 211F of the Clean Air Act for a manganese gasoline conditioner has indicated that use of this conditioner caused rapid increase in hydrocarbon emission (in the first 5,000 miles of operation). This is thought to be attributable to manganese deposits building up on the combustion chamber. The previous section documents that PowerPill FE-3 reduces combustion chamber deposits. A recently published study (SAE 900154) of long term use of PowerPill FE-3, as a gasoline treatment at 15 PPM documents reduced hydrocarbon, carbon monoxide and Nox emissions with two sets of 3-way catalyst-equipped cars.
Since valve recession is a problem only with older vehicles, immediate emission performance with the addition of PowerPill FE-3 at 15 PPM is more pertinent. Three European vehicles with more than 30,000 miles were evaluated for emissions with and without PowerPill FE-3 fuel treatment. The results were highly variable but suggested reduction of approximately 15% in both hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide with no effect on Nox. These results suggest an additional benefit of improved emissions performance can be achieved by use of PowerPill FE-3 as a lead substitute in gasoline.
Fuel Economy
The ability of PowerPill FE-3 to boost the octane rating of fuel, reduce carbon contamination of the combustion chamber and significantly reduce exhaust emissions leads directly to greatly improved fuel economy because fuel is burnt more efficiently.
Tests by SAE International - The Engineering Society for Advanced Mobility Land Sea Air and Space - indicate that there is an immediate improvement in fuel economy with PowerPill FE-3, mileage improving to 25.03 with PowerPill FE-3 treated unleaded fuel up from 23.1 or 8.4/o, This represents a significant cost saving.
Lead Substitute - Valve Recession Protection
One of the primary functional requirements for a lead replacement product is the ability to protect against valve recession.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has been requiring the removal of lead from gasoline since 1973. Currently available anti-valve wear products provide limited efficacy and may cause combustion chamber deposits.
With leaded petrol being withdrawn from the market there is a growing concern about engine durability by the owners of older vehicles, boats, farm tractors and the like. This durability concern was recently verified as a fact in a joint US Department of Agriculture/Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) report which stated "medium and high speed engines with soft valve seats will experience excessive valve-set wear if operated on unleaded fuel'. Tens of thousands, if not millions of vehicles are involved.
The withdrawal of leaded fuel forces owners to seek effective fuel conditioners for use in valve recession prone engines. PowerPill FE-3 (iron catalyst) is a technological total replacement to provide the functional and durability benefits formerly achieved with lead (Tetraethyl lead). Tetraethyl lead (TEL) is a Class B poison and environmentally unacceptable for health reasons. FIREPOWER believes it has developed a technological alternative for responsible petroleum distributors and aftermarket suppliers who want to fulfil the requirement of protecting the consumer's transportation investment while avoiding environmental and toxicological problems with lead.
One of the primary requirements for a lead replacement product is the ability to protect against valve recession. Tests have shown that PowerPill FE-3 stops or retards existing valve recession due to operation on unleaded fuel. This is a unique performance attribute that will be seen by owners of older vehicles as a value-for-money means of protecting their investment.
. Specifically, PowerPill FE-3 provides:
Environmental and toxicological acceptability
Anti-knock efficacy
Valve recession elimination
Combustion chamber deposit reduction
Environmental and Toxicological Considerations
The Ninth edition of the Merck Index fists the lethal dose (orally for rats) for tetraethyl lead as LD50 = 12.3 mg/kg which compares to a LD50 of 1,890 mg/kg for PowerPill FE-3. This comparison suggests PowerPill FE-3 has 150 times higher tolerance. More importantly, the above reference on TEL states "Caution: acute or chronic poisoning may occur if inhaled or absorbed through the s@'. Animal studies included in the Material Safety Data Sheet showed PowerPill FE-3 to be non-irritating to either abraded or intact skin, and dust inhalation studies with mice failed to produce any achievable concentration of 150 mg/m3 (about 20 PPM in air).
Use of PowerPill FE-3 in fuel results in inorganic iron (iron oxides) in the particulate emission from motor vehicles, with no statistically significant increase in iron concentration. Furthermore, iron is already the largest metallic in automotive exhaust gases. This is due to the metal to metal wear and exhaust pipe slough contributions to emissions. Consequently, incorporation of PowerPill FE-3s in automotive gasoline contributes no new or increased metallic emissions. Finally, PowerPill FE-3's base ingredients are fully registered with the EPA.
Diesel Engine Benefits
The many attributes of PowerPill FE-3 apply to diesel engines. Depending on the quality of the diesel fuel, PowerPill FE-3 can raise the Cetane rating by up to 6 numbers, substantially improving performance. In addition, PowerPill FE-3 cleans the combustion chamber of carbon deposits, it raises the peak flame temperature, which in turn reduces smoke and harmful emissions and improves specific power output.
Conclusions
PowerPill FE-3 has been demonstrated to provide substantial improvements in three critical performance areas with gasoline engines that are faced with the requirement of lead free gasoline due to diminished supply and availability of leaded gasoline.
Benefits of PowerPill FE-3 substitution or lead in off-road or large nozzle dispensed gasoline:
Performance Area.
Immediate substitution for lead.
Maintains valve seat integrity as well as lead.
Stops existing recession within 5,000 miles.
Engine performance increases.
Reduces combustion chamber deposits, which can cause octane requirement increase, dieseling, and performance problems.
These benefits are achieved through the use of a new gasoline conditioner that has met all EPA requirements for use in leaded (large nozzle dispensed) gasoline or off-road/marina fuel supplies.
This new technology avoids the engine deposit problems caused by alternative anti-valve recession products while being the only product, which directly increased octane. Consequently PowerPill FE-3 will provide complete duplication of leaded gasoline performance advantages while satisfying the environmental concerns requiring lead elimination from the gasoline pool.
The iron catalyst element of PowerPill FE-3 also provides protection for the millions of older vehicles, which would otherwise be at risk and penalised as the inevitable introduction around the world of unleaded fuels proceeds apace.
There are many brands of engine and fuel treatment products available on the market. Most are specifically designed to treat one problem area only. New PowerPill FE-3, with its high tech formulation, performs many tasks on its own. As a consequence, the cost of treatment is far less than having to buy four or more separate products. What is more, PowerPill FE-3 performs each of these treatments to a very high quality standard.
